PE and Sport Premium

School PE & Sport Funding

School Sport Funding is money that is provided by the government to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of Physical Education, sport and physical activity within schools.  Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6.

At Ingram Road the funding we attract is based on the data from the January 2018 school census.

Funding for 2018 to 2019

Schools with 16 or fewer eligible pupils receive £1,000 per pupil.

Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £16,000 and an additional payment of £10 per pupil.

Ingram Road is in receipt of £18,750

Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of physical education (PE), physical activity and sport on offer.

This means that you should use the premium to:

  • develop or add to the PE, physical activity and sport activities that your school already offers
  • build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years

Schools can use the premium to secure improvements in the following indicators:

  • the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school
  • the profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement
  • increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  • broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
  • increased participation in competitive sport

Evidencing the Impact of PE Sport Funding

The information below, relates to funding in previous years and the impact the funding has had. Our consistent approach to ensuring we continually improve our PE & Sport provision has been acknowledged through the School Games Awards, for which we have achieved the Silver award in 2014/15 and Gold mark in 2015/2016, 2016/17 & 2017/2018 consecutively and are already planning for another Gold in 2018/19 !

This is testament to the continual analysis and planning of the PE & Sport provision within school and it's extra curricular sporting activities. We strive to ensure all children at Ingram Road can access a wide range of stimulating physical activity for at least 30 minutes every day during the school day, with our intention to increase participation to an hour every day.
