Elm, Hazel & Maple Classes
Last half term Y3 and 4 made 3 Prehistoric settlements on the school field; a Stone Age hut made with large sticks, a Bronze Age round house and an Iron Age oval house. We filled them with artefacts and dressed up in clothes made by the children. When other pupils from school visited, they were very impressed with all our hard work!
Children who were all green for Attitude in Spring 2 enjoyed a special Easter Party at the end of term. They decorated their own biscuits, played lots of fun games and had a mini-feast to finish off – a well-deserved treat.
This half term we will be visiting Armley Mill Industrial Museum as part of our topic work, studying Victorian Leeds. The children will dress up as Victorian Children for the day and find out what life in a Victorian School was like. They might be in for a shock!
Dealing with worries
During PSHCE lessons this half term, we will be thinking about how to deal with worries, especially about changing and growing. The children will learn about different strategies to help them deal with anxiety. Please be prepared to let them discuss this with you and answer any questions they may have.
TV stars of the future have been in control of the Made in Leeds ‘On the Aire’ news desk, and the daily Magazine show, The Book It List, when Year 3 and 4 students from our school took charge.
On Tuesday 26 April, the Ingram Road students were be responsible for choosing the stories, creating the reports, editing, directing and presenting the 6pm bulletin, along with hosting a special episode of cinema show, ‘Boys on Film’ and a what’s on Leeds guide all to follow at 6.30pm in the magazine show, ‘The Book It List’.
Miss Millard, Head Teacher at Ingram Road Primary in Leeds, comments: “We’re so excited to be working with Made in Leeds to enable the students to take part in such an event. The students are incredibly excited to be involved in making and presenting programmes that will actually be broadcast on TV. There’s definitely a few nerves but the pupils are most definitely up for the challenge.”
Andy Seddon, Made in Leeds Head of News adds: “This year’s Takeover TV event is bigger than ever. Not only are the pupils reporting and producing their new reports, they will also star in behind the scenes filming and promotional idents, in addition to the packages being presented on The Book It List.”
